Could a mysterious fourth neutrino force us to rewrite the laws of physics?
In short: Neutrinos outnumber atoms by a billion to one, yet they remain notoriously difficult to detect. This documentary follows an international team of scientists searching for a potential fourth type of neutrino, a discovery that could fundamentally challenge the Standard Model of physics.
Neutrinos are the most abundant particles in the universe, but their elusive nature makes them a primary target for modern research. Scientists are currently hunting for evidence of a fourth form of this particle, which would deviate from the established Standard Model.
If confirmed, the existence of this additional neutrino would necessitate a significant revision of our current understanding of the subatomic world and the mechanics of the universe. This investigation, which aired on October 6, 2021, highlights the ongoing efforts to capture these particles and redefine the blueprint of physics.
