In short: As equatorial climate zones expand into subtropical and temperate regions, pathogens and their vectors are moving into new territories, spreading diseases to populations that have no previous exposure to them.

This video examines how pathogens, such as the one responsible for malaria, adapt to exploit new environmental opportunities. As equatorial-type climate zones shift north and south, they enter subtropical and temperate zones, bringing infectious diseases and their associated vectors into areas where these illnesses were not previously known to occur.
