How photography can reveal the hidden lives of overlooked women
In short: Photojournalist Smita Sharma explores the realities of girls facing marriage or trafficking instead of education. This video examines how visual storytelling can expose these hidden struggles without disrupting the lives of the subjects being photographed.
Smita Sharma, a TED Fellow, uses her lens to document the experiences of girls and young women in regions where education is often sidelined by marriage or human trafficking. Her approach prioritizes the dignity of her subjects, ensuring that the act of documentation does not interfere with their daily lives. By bringing these unseen stories to light, Sharma aims to create the first necessary step toward changing the global narrative surrounding these women.
