Journey from the Himalayas to the edge of the Big Bang
Experience an immersive 360-degree voyage through the cosmos. This visualization tracks a path from Earth's atmosphere, past the Milky Way, and into the deep reaches of space to witness the afterglow of the Big Bang.
Using OpenSpace, an open-source interactive software, this production transforms complex scientific datasets into a dynamic visual narrative. Every celestial object featured—from planets and stars to distant quasars—is derived from real data collected by telescopes and space missions across the globe and beyond.
The project, developed by a team including Carter Emmart, Rebecca Oppenationheimer, and Brian Abbott, serves to illustrate our ongoing human efforts to investigate the known universe.
