The return of a bodybuilding dynasty to the Las Vegas strip
In short: Bodybuilding's most prestigious stage returned to its historic roots in 2025. After a brief move to Florida, the Mr. Olympia competition reverted to the desert landscape of Nevada, where the sport's most iconic rivalries were first forged in the modern era.
The 61st Mr. Resorts World Las Vegas hosted the Olympia event between 6 and 12 October 2025. This move marked a homecoming of sorts for the IFBB professional bodybuilding circuit. While the event shifted to Orlando, Florida, in 2023, the 2025 return to Las Vegas honors the city's legacy as a host for the sport since the era of the famous Coleman-Cutler rivalry. The exhibition also featured the 212 Olympia Showdown. This location change followed a brief period of hosting in Florida. It serves as a primary hub for the sport's most famous historical matchups.
The weekend was defined by a mix of established dynasties and new champions. In the Men's Open, Derek Lunsford reclaimed his title from Samson Dauda, earning a $600,000 prize. Meanwhile, the Men's Physique division saw Ryan Terry secure his third consecutive title, mirroring the dominant performances of previous years. Hadi Choopan took the runner-up spot for the third year in a row. He received a payout of $250,000 for his second-place finish. In the 212 division, Keone Pearson won his third straight victory. Shaun Clarida finished in second place for the second year running.
In the women's categories, Andrea Shaw continued her era of dominance by securing her sixth straight Ms. Olympia title. The 2025 event also served as a platform for significant transitions. The Fitness division opened up after reigning champion Missy Truscott moved to the Figure category, allowing Michelle Fredua-Mensah to claim her first title. Similarly, the Women's Figure and Wheelchair Olympia divisions saw new winners, including Jessica Reyes Padilla and James Berger, respectively, as long-standing champions like Cydney Gillon and Harold Kelley stepped away from the stage. Ramon Queiroz won his first Classic Physique title during the weekend. In the Women's Physique category, Natalia Abraham Coelho reclaimed her throne from Sarah Villegas. Maureen Blanquisco won her second crown after a previous withdrawal. The Wellness division saw Eduarda Bezerra defeat Isabelle Nunes.
