The grueling annual odyssey of a female Montagu's harrier
In short: Experience a year in the life of a steppe bird. This documentary follows a female Montagu's harrier from birth to adulthood, highlighting the environmental pressures threatening her survival.
Antonio Aguilera Nieves's novel "Sacapuntas, una vida de aguilucha" serves as the foundation for this motion picture, which follows one individual's trek through diverse habitats. It focuses on the specific challenges faced by steppe birds, particularly the dual threats of rapid climate change and significant habitat loss in their breeding grounds.
By documenting her transition from a fledgling to a returning breeder, the narrative illustrates the high stakes of conservation in changing environments.
