How a swarm of bees uses a synchronized wave to repel deadly hornets
In short: When faced with a hornet, a single bee stands little chance. However, this video reveals how an entire hive coordinates a hypnotic, collective defense mechanism to deter even the most formidable predators.
The defense strategy, often described as a Mexican wave, demonstrates the remarkable unity of a bee colony. By moving in unison, the bees create a visual display that effectively keeps hornets at bay, proving that the collective strength of the hive far exceeds the capabilities of any individual member.
This footage, sourced from the BBC Earth series Hidden India, highlights the sophisticated survival tactics evolved by bees to protect their home from aggressive invaders.
