How blind tiger snakes successfully hunt on Carnac Island
In short: Witness the extraordinary survival tactics of venomous tiger snakes. This footage explores how these predators manage to thrive and hunt gull chicks even when many of them are completely blind.
Taken from the 2008 series 'Life in Cold Blood', this clip reveals the sophisticated hunting behaviours of tiger snakes on Carnac Island. Despite the lack of sight in many individuals, these snakes maintain a well-fed population by targeting gull chicks, often facing resistance from fierce parent gulls.
The series uses advanced technology to capture intimate details of reptiles and amphibians, challenging the outdated myth that cold-blooded animals are merely slow, primitive, or solitary creatures.
