How tortoises survive the sun's attempt to boil them alive
In short: In extreme heat, tortoises face a lethal threat: being boiled inside their own shells. This film follows their desperate mass migration to find shade and escape the sun.
Narrated by Sir David Attendeborough, this episode of 'A Perfect Planet' (2021) examines the intricate balance of our living planet. It explores how animals have adapted to survive powerful environmental forces, specifically focusing on the survival strategies of tortoises when their only enemy is the sun.
The series also investigates how sunlight, volcanoes, weather, and ocean currents work together to support Earth's biodiversity, and the impact human activity has on these fragile ecosystems.
