Guided by storms: The nomadic survival of Australia's giant birds
In short: Follow a male emu as he navigates the harsh Australian Outback. This documentary captures the grueling reality of his journey to find water, defend his offspring, and survive against some of the continent's most formidable predators.
The emu is deeply woven into Aboriginal mythology as a creator spirit that once possessed the ability to fly. In reality, these birds are nomadic survivors who have traversed Australia for millions of years in search of scarce resources.
This film tracks a male emu's struggle against dingoes, eagles, fire, and starvation while guarding his clutch of eggs and chicks. Remarkably, emus navigate this vast landscape by tracking storms from distances of up to 100 kilometers, following the clouds into the unknown.
