How pirate-introduced cats struggle to survive on a Greek island
In short: In a landscape of postcard perfection, a colony of stray cats faces a daily battle for existence. This film follows their adaptation to life without natural predators and the challenges of seasonal scarcity.
The video explores the lives of stray cats on a Greek island, a population originally brought to the area by pirates. Without natural predators to check their numbers, the population has grown significantly, forcing the cats to navigate a world of scavenging at fishing docks and hunting along rocky shores. The documentary follows the journey of an orphaned ginger kitten as it attempts to find its place within the colony.
As the tourist season ends, the cats face increasing hunger, prompting local residents to intervene. The film examines the effectiveness of sterilization efforts and local goodwill in managing the population and preventing further suffering in this blurred boundary between wild and domestic life.
