Why female lions are the true hunters while males claim the spoils
In short: In a lion pride, the division of labor is stark. While females handle the essential task of hunting, males often arrive to claim the resulting meal. This video explores the dynamics of these fierce predators during National Geographic's Big Cat Week.
Within a pride, female lions are responsible for all hunting activities. Once a hunt is successful, male lions typically step in to take the spoils of the victory. This behavior highlights the complex social structure and survival strategies of these big cats.
Big Cat Week showcases the strength and ferocity of various feline species, including lions, tigers, cheetahs, and panthers. These creatures are currently facing the threat of extinction, making their struggles for survival a critical focus for wildlife documentaries.
