A rescue from the illegal trade: the journey of a sun bear
In short: Watch the story of Mary, a sun bear rescued from the illegal wildlife trade at only five months old. This footage explores the high-stakes work of conservationists building a sanctuary to protect endangered bears from the bear bile trade.
Conservationist Giles Clark is spearheading a pioneering wildlife rescue center in Laos to combat the illegal bear bile farming industry. The project involves building wild enclosures where liberated bears can live naturally before being released back into the wild.
The series follows Clark's efforts to secure a free future for sun and moon bears in South East Asia. It highlights the transition from captive suffering to sanctuary life, featuring Mary and other rescued cubs being reared in a dedicated rescue environment.
