How the Kalahari's most skilled hunters track hidden desert feasts
In short: In the Kalahari Desert, food is abundant but difficult to locate. This film explores how pangolins and aardvarks use specialized senses and digging techniques to uncover termite colonies.
The footage, part of the 2019 series Seven Worlds One Planet, examines the survival strategies of the pangolin and the aardvark. It highlights how these animals utilize an extraordinary sense of smell and powerful digging skills to access the desert's termite supplies.
Presented by Sir David Attenborough, the series places these animals within a broader geological context, looking at how the separation of the Earth's crust into seven continents millions of years ago helped shape the unique wildlife found on each continent today.
