The physics of a chameleon's projectile tongue revealed in slow motion
In short: Watch a chameleon's hunt unfold at a speed the human eye cannot track. This footage captures the mechanics of one of nature's most specialized biological weapons.
Filmed by Si and Sam for Earth Unplugged, this sequence captures a chameleon striking an insect. By using super slow motion, the video reveals the precise mechanics of the chameleon's projectile tongue as it functions as a formidable hunting tool.
The footage provides a rare look at the speed and precision required for this predatory behavior, highlighting the evolutionary engineering behind the chameleon's unique anatomy.
