The brutal reality of how leopard seals hunt their prey
In short: Wildlife photographer Alex Vail captures a harrowing side of marine life: the way leopard seals interact with their catch. This footage offers a raw look at the predatory behavior that defines these apex predators.
While often admired for their grace, leopard seals exhibit a brutal nature when dealing with prey. Photographer Alex Vail documented specific instances where these seals appeared to play with their victims rather than consuming them immediately. The video provides a visceral perspective on the harsh realities of survival in some of the world's most extreme environments.
