The return of a predator once pushed to the brink
In short: After nearly being wiped out, grey wolves are reclaiming their territory in the United States. This footage captures a grueling stakeout to track these apex predators as they cross borders and navigate unforgiving mountain landscapes.
Biologists are currently monitoring grey wolves to understand what specific traits allow them to survive and expand their range so aggressively today. The team navigates snow-covered forests and ancient valleys to observe these animals in a high-tension environment where they are increasingly crossing into the United States from Canada.
The footage highlights the difficulty of tracking elusive wildlife in harsh terrain, providing a rare look at the resilience of a species that was once on the verge of extinction.
