Can prayer and spiritual batteries prevent global catastrophe by channeling energy from alien masters?
In short: The Aetherius Society believes humanity is being guided by extraterrestrial intelligences known as Cosmic Masters. Founded in the 1950s, this group uses yoga, prayer, and mysterious spiritual energy batteries to help Earth navigate a cosmic crisis, aiming to usher in a new age of peace and enlightenment.
The Aetherius Society was established in 1956 by George King, a former security officer who claimed to have been contacted by a Venusian entity named Aetherius. King asserted that he was chosen to be the voice of an Interplanetary Parliament, receiving telepathic messages from various Cosmic Masters, including figures like Jesus and Buddha, whom the society views as avatars from other planets. The movement integrates theosophy with UFO lore, suggesting that these masters exist on higher vibrational planes to explain the lack of physical evidence for their presence in our solar system.
Central to the group's practice is the concept of spiritual energy. Members engage in 'Operation Prayer Power,' using specialized equipment called Spiritual Energy Batteries to store psychic energy generated through mantras and meditation. The society claims that this stored energy can be released during crises to prevent wars or mitigate natural disasters. Between 1958 and 1961, the group conducted 'Operation Starlight,' where King and his followers climbed eighteen mountains worldwide to spiritually charge them, believing these sites now serve as conduits for cosmic power.
The society’s theology is millenarian, warning that humanity faces a choice between self-destruction and a new era of peace. They believe that a messianic 'next Master' will eventually arrive in a spacecraft to present credentials to world leaders. While the group maintains a relatively conventional structure, its claims have faced skepticism. Critics point to the lack of independent verification for King's experiences, his failure to demonstrate claimed abilities like speaking all terrestrial languages, and the scientific incompatibility of their extraterrestrial hierarchy with modern astronomical findings.
Despite these challenges, the society persists as an international, albeit small, movement. It emphasizes altruism and service, positioning itself as a spiritual path that adds a cosmic dimension to existing religions. By framing environmental and societal issues as symptoms of a 'spiritual energy crisis,' the group continues to advocate for a worldview where human effort, combined with the guidance of alien masters, is essential for the planet's evolution.
