In short: Founded in 1955 by the Al-Ja'ba brothers, Al-Nassr evolved from a local Riyadh team into a regional giant. Known as The Global One, the club made history as the first Asian team to compete in the FIFA Club World Cup, setting a precedent for Saudi football's international ambitions and modern transformation.

Established in 1955, Al-Nassr was guided for over 39 years by Prince Abdul Rahman bin Saud Al Saud, the club's 'Godfather' who transformed it from a second-division outfit into a champion. The team’s early success relied on the 'Saudi Golden Trio'—Majed Abdullah, Fahd Al-Bishi, and Mohaisen Al-Jam'an—who dominated the 1970s and 1980s. Abdullah, who retired in 1998, remains the club's all-time top scorer with 260 goals, a benchmark that stood for years.

The club reached a major milestone in 2000 by becoming the first Asian team to participate in the inaugural FIFA Club World Cup in Brazil. This appearance earned them the nickname 'The Global One' (Al-Alami) and saw them become the first team to win the FIFA Fair Play Award. Despite periods of decline, including a near-relegation in 2006–07, the club consistently rebuilt, securing multiple Saudi Pro League titles and domestic cups through strategic signings and management overhauls.

In recent years, Al-Nassr has aggressively expanded its international profile. The 2022 signing of Cristiano Ronaldo marked a new era, with the club subsequently attracting global stars like Sadio Mané, Aymeric Laporte, and Marcelo Brozović. By 2024, the club had achieved a record-breaking 82-point league season. Today, Al-Nassr remains a dominant force, having secured 30 competitive honours and consistently competing at the highest levels of Asian and domestic football.
