From legal battles to lunar orbits: the rise of Artms

In short: The formation of K-pop group Artms is a masterclass in industrial resilience. Born from a complex legal dispute over exclusive contracts, these five former Loona members navigated litigation and rebranding to launch a global project inspired by both ancient mythology and modern space exploration.

Artms was not an overnight success but the culmination of a protracted corporate struggle. In November 2022, nine members of the group Loona sought a provisional injunction to suspend their exclusive contracts with Blockberry Creative following the removal of member Chuu. By early 2023, four members—Heejin, Kim Lip, Jinsoul, and Choerry—successfully terminated those contracts and signed with Modhaus on March 17, 2023. Haseul joined them later that year after her own contract was suspended.

The transition from Loona to Artms began as a multi-faceted project in 2023. Before debuting as a permanent quintet, Modhaus released solo works and singles for the members, including Haseul's 'Plastic Candy' and Heejin's EP K. On 31 May 2024, they released their first studio record, DALL (an abbreviation of "Devine All Love & Live"). Their branding draws a dual inspiration: the Greek goddess Artemis and NASA's Artemis program, which aims to land the first woman and person of color on the Moon.

The group's trajectory has been marked by significant milestones in both music and law. On June 20, 2024, four members won a legal case against Blockberry Creative regarding the non-existence of their exclusive contracts. Since then, Artms has established a rapid international presence, conducting world tours such as 'Moonshot' (2024) and 'Lunar Theory' (2025), and releasing high-profile singles like 'Virtual Angel,' which was recognized by Billboard as one of the best K-Pop songs of 2024.

By July 2026, the group continued its expansion with the EP Hyper-Ego. Their evolution demonstrates how individual artists can navigate systemic industry hurdles to build a new identity that balances personal autonomy with large-scale commercial ambition.
