In short: Daniel Dumile, the British-American rapper known as MF Doom, built a legendary career by adopting multiple stage names and a signature mask. From his early days in the group KMD to his final collaborative projects, Dumile released dozens of albums and singles, leaving an indelible mark on the music industry.

Born in London, Daniel Dumile first gained attention as Zev Love X in the rap group KMD. The group released their debut, Mr. Hood, in May 1991. However, the trajectory of his career shifted dramatically in 1993. Following the tragic death of his brother and fellow KMD member, Subroc, who was struck by a car, the group was dropped by Elektra Records just before the release of their second album, Black Bastards.

Dumile re-emerged in September 1999 under the moniker MF Doom, adopting a persona inspired by the Marvel Comics villain Doctor Doom. This marked the beginning of a prolific period characterized by creative reinvention. He utilized various pseudonyms, such as King Geedorah and Viktor Vaughn, to explore different artistic directions. His commercial breakthrough arrived in March 2004 with the release of Madvillainy, a collaborative project with producer Madlib that reached number 179 on the US Billboard 200.

Throughout his career, Dumile released 6 solo studio albums, 10 instrumental albums, and 7 collaborative albums. His final solo studio album, Born Like This, was released in 2009 under the name Doom. Following this, he focused exclusively on collaborative works, including the 2014 project NehruvianDoom with Bishop Nehru. Dumile passed away on October 31, 2020, a date now commemorated by fans as Doomsday. His legacy remains defined by his complex discography, which includes 22 singles and 32 music videos, showcasing a unique approach to identity and performance in hip-hop.
