The elephant who traveled from Indian jungles to Parisian stardom
In short: Siam was more than a circus act; he was a global sensation whose life spanned continents and industries. This documentary traces his journey from a wild forest capture to a cinematic icon.
Born in the wild forests of India, Siam was captured using a khedda trap. His life transitioned from hauling timber in the jungle to performing in ceremonial splendor, eventually becoming a national treasure.
Siam was transported from Calcutta to Zurich, where he became a circus sensation. Following a production with Pierre Étaix, the Oscar-winning director, he evolved into a Parisian symbol within the Vincennes Zoo. His legacy persists today at the National Museum of Natural History.
