The Telugu cinema star who balanced blockbuster hits with medical school
In short: She is one of the highest-paid actresses in Telugu cinema, known for her energetic dancing and massive box-office successes. Yet, behind the glamorous screen presence and brand endorsements, Sreeleerla has been quietly pursuing a second, equally demanding career as a qualified medical doctor.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, in 2001, Sreeleela's path to stardom began through social media. Director A. P. Arjun discovered her photographs, captured by cinematographer Bhuvan Gowda, which led to her lead debut in the 2019 Kannada film Kiss. Having grown up in Bengaluru, India, she opted to start her acting journey with Kannada cinema, even though she possessed industry links in Telugu-language films.
Her rise in Telugu cinema was marked by significant commercial milestones. Following her debut in Pelli SandaD in 2021, she appeared in the 2022 hit Dhamaka alongside Ravi Teja. Her professional journey has been inconsistent; although Skanda failed to meet financial expectations, Bhagavanth Kesari ranked among the top-earning Telugu movies of 2023. Her dance performances, especially within the Guntur Kaaram track 'Kurchi Madathapetti', have achieved massive success online.
Parallel to her acting, Sreeleela maintained a rigorous academic discipline. She studied medicine at Navi Mumbai's DY Patil University, completing her MBBS studies in February 2026. This dual life of managing intensive filming schedules and medical training has been a notable point of interest for the press.
Beyond the screen, her personal life includes significant philanthropic commitments. In February 2022, she adopted two children with disabilities, followed by a third child in April 2025. Although her filming schedule prevents the children from living directly with her, she provides full funding for their education, healthcare, and living expenses at a residential facility.
