Geometry is more than just shapes on a flat page
In short: While most of us learn geometry as a set of rules for flat surfaces, the field extends into complex realms that define our universe. This video maps the vast landscape of geometric branches, from the familiar to the abstract.
The video explores the spectrum of geometry, beginning with Euclidean geometry—the standard framework taught in schools. It then moves into advanced territories like Riemannian and pseudo-Riemannian geometry, which describe spaces that exist far beyond everyday human experience.
The presentation highlights that geometry is not a collection of isolated silos; branches frequently overlap and build upon one another. The goal is to provide a comprehensive overview of these mathematical structures to spark curiosity and encourage further independent research.
