Why common science facts are often fundamentally misunderstood

Five SCiENCE "FACTS" that are Widely Believed...but WRONG! · 17:28 · Video: Arvin Ash · Watch at the source

In short: From the behavior of bees to the origins of our species, many 'facts' we learn in school are actually oversimplifications or outright errors. This video deconstructs five common misconceptions using the actual laws of physics and biology.

The video clarifies that gravity exists everywhere in space; the International Space Station feels weightless only because it is in constant freefall. It also corrects the speed of light myth: while massive particles require infinite energy to reach light speed, the speed of light itself can be exceeded by expanding space or group velocity, provided no information travels faster than light.

In biology, humans are cousins of chimpanzees, not descendants, sharing a common ancestor from 6 to 8 million years ago. The video also explains that bees fly by flapping wings back and forth to generate lift in both strokes, unlike birds which only generate lift on the downstroke. Finally, it notes that the Big Bang theory describes the universe's evolution after its beginning, not the creation itself.
