How to transform a textured wall using decorative glazes
In short: This video demonstrates how to work with existing wall or ceiling textures. You will learn how to seal surfaces and use color glazes to add depth and life to a room without changing its fundamental color.
The process begins by sealing the texture with an eggshell or higher sheen paint to prevent glaze or paint from sinking into the surface and causing finish failure. Once sealed, you can apply glazes—such as burnt amber or burnt sienna—in a random distribution to create a classic glaze texture.
To achieve the desired effect, use a wet rag to manipulate the glazes into the texture using circular, left-to-right, or up-and-down motions. This technique adds life to the surface through depth rather than a single solid color.
