How a dishwasher actually cleans your dishes
In short: Plumbing expert Richard Trethewey demonstrates the internal mechanics of a dishwasher, explaining how water, heat, and pumps work together through various cycles to sanitize your kitchenware.
The process begins with a discharge pump removing any leftover liquid. Hot water then enters from the side to fill a bottom reservoir until a float is activated. In certain cycles, an electrical element heats the water to sanitize the dishes.
Once the reservoir is full, a pump sprays a mixture of water and soap over the dishes. The cycle concludes when the pump discharges the water out through the drain.
