Can complex physics be delivered as a high-stakes performance?
In short: The 2021 Fermilab Physics Slam reimagines scientific communication as a competitive stage. Watch how researchers translate dense data into engaging narratives for a live virtual audience.
In this annual event, contenders are given exactly 10 minutes to present their research in the most compelling way possible. The 9th annual iteration moved to a virtual format where a Zoom audience voted to crown the Physics Slam Champion.
The competition highlights the intersection of rigorous research and public engagement. Finalists also participated in interviews with science comedian Brian Malow to discuss their academic backgrounds and the specific mechanics of their SLAM talks.
