A changing of the guard aboard the International Space Station
In short: Witness the formal transition of command on the orbital outpost as Expedition 37 concludes and a new crew prepares to take the reins.
On November 8, the command of the International Space Station passed from Fyodor Yurchikhin to Oleg Kotov. This ceremony marked the beginning of a leadership shift as the station prepared for the departure of the Expedition 37 crew.
The transition involves the departure of Yurchikhin, alongside NASA Flight Engineer Karen Nyberg and ESA Flight Engineer Luca Parmitano, who are scheduled to leave via the Soyuz spacecraft on November 11, Kazakh time. They are succeeded by a crew including Kotov, Michael Hopkins, Sergey Ryazanskiy, Mikhail Tyurin, Rick Mastracchio, and Koichi Wakata.
