Navigating the Heart of an Active Volcanic Crater
In short: Watch a specialized team attempt to fly a custom-built drone into the dangerous interior of Guatemala's Volcán de Fuego. This footage captures the high-stakes technical challenge of gathering data from one of the world's most active volcanic sites.
Since 2002, the Volcán de Fuego in Guatemala has remained in a state of constant eruption. To understand the internal dynamics of the volcano, researchers must overcome significant environmental hazards to reach the crater's heart.
The mission involves using a custom-built drone designed to withstand extreme conditions. Because the window of opportunity to fly safely is so short, the team must balance technical precision with the volatile nature of the active volcano.
