How massive multiplayer gaming is aiding the search for distant worlds
In short: Discover how the players of Eve Online are using their analytical skills to assist astronomers in identifying planetary transits that computers might have overlooked.
Through Project Discovery, Eve Online players analyze light curves from the COROT spacecraft to search for evidence of exoplanets. By identifying planetary transnetic signatures that escaped previous automated analyses, this initiative leverages the superior pattern recognition of thousands of humans to process complex scientific data in exchange for in-game rewards.
