The high-stakes courtship dance of a prehistoric giant
In short: Witness a male Lusotitan attempt to secure a mate through a complex courtship dance. This clip from the reimagined 'Walking with Dinosaurs' series uses pioneering special effects to bring a specific prehistoric mating ritual to life.
The video explores the social behaviors of the Lusotitan, a dinosaur whose life stories are being reconstructed from six real-world excavation sites. It focuses on the intense pressure of prehistoric courtship, where a male's performance in a dance is critical to winning over a discerning mate.
The footage highlights the physical risks involved in these displays, noting that while the male aims to impress, excessive enthusiasm during the ritual could potentially be dangerous. The production uses a heavyweight cast and advanced effects to depict these character-led stories from the age of dinosaurs.
