How an astronaut answered public questions from the International Space Station
In short: In May 2012, European Space Agency astronaut Andre Kuipers hosted a live social media event from orbit. This video captures his discussion about the realities of daily life and scientific work aboard the International Space Station with researchers based in the Netherlands.
During Expedition 31, Flight Engineer Andre Kuipers connected with participants at ESA's space research center in Noordwijk to share insights into the orbital lifestyle. The session provided a rare look at the operational environment of the station, highlighting the collaborative nature of space exploration.
Kuipers served alongside Commander Oleg Kononenko and Flight Engineer Don Pettit. The crew concluded their mission on July 1, returning to Earth via a Soyuz spacecraft that landed in Kazakhstan.
