The multifaceted daily reality of life aboard the International Space Station
In short: Space exploration is often depicted as a series of grand milestones, but for ESA astronaut Luca Parmitano, it was a rigorous daily routine of maintenance and science. This highlight reel captures the diverse demands of Expedition 36.
The video showcases the varied responsibilities of Luca Parmitano during his first three months on the International Space Station. His work spanned critical technical tasks like plumbing and maintenance to high-level scientific research, spacewalks, and robotic operations. It also highlights the physical demands of spaceflight, including regular exercise.
The footage provides a glimpse into the transition between missions, specifically the shift from Expedition 36 to Expedition 37 on September 10, 2013. It serves as a record of the collaborative effort between Parmitano, Karen Nyberg, and Fyodor Yurchikhin as they prepared for their return to Earth on November 10.
