How an astronaut prepares to run a marathon in orbit

Preparing for a Long Distance Run from Space · 20:44 · Video: NASA · Watch at the source

In short: This video captures a unique session where Tim Peake discusses life aboard the International Space Station and his unconventional plan to complete the London Marathon while in space.

During an in-flight Q&A on April 20, Expedition 47 Flight Engineer Tim Peake shared his training and logistical plans for the upcoming London Marathon. Rather than running on city streets, Peake intends to use an exercise treadmill aboard the International Space Station for approximately four hours to simulate the race.

Peake, the first British astronaut to fly on the station, arrived in orbit last December and is scheduled to return to Earth in June after a six-month mission.
