The final journey to the launch pad for Soyuz TMA-08M
In short: Watch the precise logistical choreography required to position a spacecraft for its journey to the International Space Station. This footage captures the final transition of the Soyuz TMA-08M and its booster to the Baikonur Cosmodrome.
On March 26, the Soyuz TMA-08M spacecraft and its booster were transported via railcar to the launch pad in Kazakhstan. This move marked the beginning of final preparations for a launch scheduled for March 29 (March 28 in the U.S.).
The mission was designed to deliver a three-person crew—Pavel Vinogradov, Chris Cassidy, and Alexander Misurkin—to the International Space Station for a five-and-a-half-month stay. They joined a crew that had been in orbit since late December, including station Commander Chris Hadfield.
