The precise mechanics of maintaining life in low Earth orbit
In short: Watch how NASA successfully launched the space shuttle Atlantis on mission STS-132. This video captures the beginning of a critical journey to maintain the International Space Station's infrastructure.
The launch was described by officials at the Kennedy Space Center as "clean," ensuring that Commander Ken Ham and his five crew members reached their destination safely. The primary objective of STS-132 involves three specific extravehicular activities, or spacewalks, to perform essential hardware upgrades.
These missions are vital for the station's continued operation, as the crew is tasked with installing new batteries, a radio antenna, and a specialized tool platform outside the ISS.
