Can we search the physical surface of Earth like Google?
In short: Will Marshall explains how his team is using a massive satellite fleet and AI to create a searchable index of every object on our planet, from houses to trees.
The project aims to transform how we monitor global change by creating a living record of the physical world. Planet aims for an AI-powered framework that catalogues items chronologically by employing a global satellite network to photograph our planet each day.
This database is designed to make ships, trees, and houses searchable, providing tools for people to identify and address environmental or structural changes. Marshall argues that visibility is a prerequisite for action: "You can't fix what you can't see."
