Did two moons once orbit Venus before vanishing into history?

The Mysterious Cases Of The 2 Moons Of Venus · 15:11 · Video: Insane Curiosity · Watch at the source

In short: Venus is currently moonless, but historical records suggest otherwise. This video investigates the mysterious accounts of two specific satellites—Zoozve and Neith—exploring whether they were actual celestial bodies or astronomical illusions.

The mystery begins with Zoozve, a name associated with a satellite that modern science cannot confirm exists. In contrast, the history of 'Neith' dates back to 1645, when Italian astronomer Francisco Fontana claimed to have discovered a moon orbiting Venus.

While Fontana’s initial claim went largely unnoticed, the renowned Giovanni Cassini later corroborated the finding in 1686. Cassini estimated that this satellite was approximately one-quarter the size of Venus. Despite these historical observations, no natural satellites are currently known to orbit the planet.
