While astronomers and engineers are often the faces of scientific discovery, the European Southern Observatory (ESO) relies on a vast network of support staff to function. From administrative professionals and guides to cooks and drivers, these individuals provide the daily labor necessary to sustain the organization's ambitious research programs.
The video features photography by Max Alexander, captured during his project documenting the observatory's half-century milestone. It was premiered on 11 September 2012 at the ESO Headquarters in Germany, featuring an original score by composer John Stanford.
