NASA highlights three major astronomical events for December 2020: a peak meteor shower, a historic planetary conjunction, and the arrival of the winter solstice.
The month features the Geminids, widely considered the premier meteor shower of the year, occurring mid-month. Observers can also witness an exceptionally close pairing of Jupiter and Saturn, a rare configuration that will not recur for several decades.
