Your body is currently glowing with invisible light
In short: You are constantly emitting photons, but you cannot see them. This video explores the biological radiance of living organisms and why this light vanishes instantly at the moment of death.
The phenomenon is known as ultra weak photon emission (UPE). Research using ultra-sensitive cameras in total darkness has shown that live mice emit a distinct biological radiance that is not caused by heat or reflected light. This glow originates from every cell in the body, including neurons and skin cells.
Crucially, this light is tied to life rather than temperature; when the mouse in the study died, its glow disappeared even though its body temperature remained unchanged. UPE is roughly 1,000 times weaker than the threshold of human vision, making it invisible to the naked eye but detectable by specialized equipment.
