How global collaboration in space is shaping the next generation of STEM leaders
In short: NASA highlights the vital roles women play in science and engineering through a unique international dialogue. This program connects students with female astronauts and experts to explore career paths and the reality of working together on the International Space Station.
The program features a 2015 video downlink where Russian cosmonaut Elena Serova and European Space Agency astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti answered questions from students at the School for Ethics and Global Leadership. Their joint mission on the International Space Station was a historic milestone, representing only the second time two women served on the same expedition.
Back at NASA Headquarters in Washington DC, host Sarah DeWitt moderated a panel with three professionals: a specialist in engineering, a technology expert, and a researcher. These women shared their experiences working on projects both on Earth and in space, aiming to provide guidance and inspiration to students interested in pursuing STEM careers.
