From Ginetta junior ranks to the pinnacle of Porsche racing
In short: Gustav Burton's ascent in British motorsport is a study in steady progression. By navigating the competitive tiers of Ginetta and British GT, he built a foundation of consistency that eventually led him to the 2026 Porsche Supercup. It is a blueprint for climbing the racing ladder.
Born in 2002, Burton began his competitive journey in 2018 with Douglas Motorsport in the Ginetta Junior Championship. While his initial fifteen starts saw a best finish of sixth at Brands Hatch, he returned for a full 2019 season where he significantly improved his results, securing four podium finishes.
The 2020 season marked a pivotal shift as Burton moved into the Ginetta GT4 Supercup with Century Motorsport. He demonstrated immediate pace by taking pole position at Donington Park and securing a maiden win in the third race of that opening round. This year established a fierce three-way rivalry with drivers Will Burns and Tom Hibbert, characterized by frequent podium finishes and high-pressure battles at circuits like Oulton Park and Thruxton.
A significant turning point occurred for Burton in 2021, as he partnered with Will Burns to enter the British GT Championship. Competing within the GT4 Silver category for Century Motorsport, the duo led the initial phase by claiming four straight podiums plus a Donington Park win. This partnership ultimately secured them the championship title.
Since then, Burton has transitioned into elite Porsche categories. He finished fourth in the 2022 Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain and moved into the Porsche Supercup in 2023. Although he competed as a guest driver for Joe Tandy Racing in 2023—making him ineligible for points—he continued to show top-tier form, including a pole position and win at Knockhill. Representing GP Elite, he is presently a participant in the 2026 Porsche Supercup.
