In short: Aimee Allen’s journey to the forefront of the ska-punk scene is defined by resilience. After a rough upbringing in Montana, she navigated a labyrinth of failed record deals and solo projects before finding her definitive voice as the lead singer of the Interrupters.

Born in Kalispell, Montana, in 1979, Aimee Allen faced a difficult early life, spending time in foster homes and moving between various schools. These formative years shaped her musical identity, with rock icon Joan Jett serving as a primary inspiration. At 18, Allen moved to Los Angeles to pursue music, where she initially fronted a punk band called Forum. However, her early career was marked by industry hurdles; a record deal with MCA fell through, and her 2003 debut album with Elektra Records was shelved when the label was absorbed by Atlantic Records in 2004.

Despite these setbacks, Allen remained a prolific collaborator and songwriter. She contributed to various projects, including the Billboard-charting single "Save Me (Wake Up Call)" with Unwritten Law and provided vocals for Grammy-winning artists like Jimmy Cliff. She also explored diverse musical territories, from the "Tim Timebomb" project—which released a new song every day for a year between 2012 and 2013—to political advocacy, such as recording a theme song for Ron Paul's 2008 campaign.

Her career reached a turning point in 2009 when she met brothers Kevin, Justin, and Jesse Bivona while touring. This connection led to the formation of the Interrupters. Following the 2018 release of Fight the Good Fight, the group saw major sales growth, securing a gold certification in Canada and a top spot on the nation's Rock Music Charts. Today, Allen balances her role as a band leader with high-profile collaborations, including work with Tom Morello and the Dirty Heads.
