Alpine's revived A110 sold out its launch run in one weekend
Alpine limited its launch edition of the reborn A110 to 1,955 cars, a nod to the year the brand was founded. Buyers had to put down 2,000 euros through an app before seeing the final price. The whole run was booked within a weekend, and the little mid-engined coupe went on to outlive most expectations.
The car made its debut at the Geneva motor show in March 2017, borrowing its name and styling cues from the original A110 built between 1961 and 1977. Underneath sat an all-aluminium structure and a 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine from the Renault–Nissan parts bin, reworked by Alpine to make 252 PS and feeding the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Alpine quoted 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and a limited top speed of 250 km/h. The launch edition eventually carried a price of 58,500 euros.
Lightness was the point, and later versions pushed it further. The A110 S of 2019 raised output to 300 PS, stiffened the springs by half and the anti-roll bars by double, and shaved a tenth off the sprint. The track-focused A110 R, which appeared in October 2022, used carbon fibre for the bonnet, wheels and seats, trimmed 34 kilograms and reached 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds; its exhaust even used a 3D-printed double wall.
Special editions multiplied. A Color Edition revived the Sunflower Yellow popular on Alpines in the 1960s and 1970s, the Argentine artist Felipe Pantone painted just three cars, and a Japan-only series ran to 24. France's National Gendarmerie took delivery of 26 police-spec A110s in April 2022, replacing hot Renault hatchbacks.
The 2024 A110 R Ultime, with 345 bhp and only 110 built, was billed as the final petrol Alpine. Production ended in June 2026 as the factory prepared for an all-electric successor.
