Can a video game help us rethink the future of urban design?

This video explores Re:Imagine London, a collaborative project within Fortnite that allows players to engage with urban planning. Developed by Zaha Hadid Architects and Epic Games, it uses professional-grade tools to bring architectural concepts into a virtual environment.

Re:Imagine London is a creator-made island in Fortnite that serves as a case study in participatory urbanism. The project was built using Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) and features high-fidelity environmental data provided by AccuCities. By leveraging the design expertise of Zaha Hadid Architects and the technical infrastructure of Epic Games, the island demonstrates how game engines can be used to simulate and visualize complex city planning.

The project involved a multidisciplinary team including ZHACODE, the computation and design group at Zaha Hadid Architects, alongside developers like Beyond Creative and Heavy Iron. It highlights the intersection of architectural geometry and digital gaming, offering a platform where players can interact with a reimagined version of London.
