From Memphis indie films to viral parodies, the multifaceted career of Clare Grant
In short: Clare Grant has built a diverse career spanning independent cinema, voice acting, and viral digital content. As a co-founder of Team Unicorn, she redefined fan-focused parody, while her work in gaming and film highlights a unique trajectory from Tennessee modeling campaigns to the competitive stage of the Fortnite World Cup.
Born in Memphis on August 23, 1979, Clare Grant began her professional journey in modeling with Elite Model Management, working for brands like L'Oréal to fund her college education. Her transition into acting was marked by collaborations with director Craig Brewer, who cast her in independent features and the MTV series $5 Cover. These early roles established her presence in the industry, leading to appearances in films such as The Graves, Joshua Tree, 1951: A Portrait of James Dean, and the 2023 horror-comedy Hanky Panky.
Grant is perhaps best known for her digital production work. Under Danger Maiden Productions, she and Rileah Vanderbilt created the series Saber, later expanding their creative circle to form Team Unicorn with Milynn Sarley and Michele Boyd. Their debut project, Geek and Gamer Girls, a parody of Katy Perry, garnered over a million views in its first week, though it sparked debate regarding its depiction of women. The team continued this success with Star Wars-themed parodies like All About That Base, cementing their influence in online fan culture.
Beyond production, Grant has a prolific career in voice acting, lending her talents to shows like Robot Chicken, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and various Marvel animated projects. Her versatility extends to competitive gaming; in 2019, she and her partner Jacob secured 4th place overall in the Fortnite World Cup Pro-AM Tournament, winning $100,000 for charity. Married to actor Seth Green since 2010, Grant remains an active figure in both traditional media and the evolving landscape of digital entertainment.
