In short: He arrived in Gotham with a lethal pedigree and a violent temperament. Trained by the League of Assassins, Damian Wayne is the heir to both the Wayne and al Ghul legacies, a child soldier caught between a father's code of justice and a grandfather's thirst for empire.

Damian Wayne, born al Ghul, is the biological son of Bruce Wayne and Talia al Ghul. His existence was kept secret for years after Talia claimed to have miscarried. His lineage was intended to unify the warring Wayne and al Ghul factions, with his grandfather, Ra's al Ghul, viewing the boy as a potential host body for his own resurrection.

The character's history is complex and often contradictory across different continuities. While Grant Morrison reinterpreted him as the modern Damian Wayne in 2006, other 'Elseworlds' stories present different identities. In the 1996 story 'Kingdom Come', he appears as Ibn al Xu'ffasch, a member of Lex Luthor's inner circle. In the 1995 story 'The Brotherhood of the Bat', a version named Tallant Wayne fights against his grandfather.

Damian's personality is defined by a struggle between his lethal upbringing and his father's morality. Trained by the League of Assassins to kill at a young age, his early actions—such as killing the villain Spook—deeply troubled Batman, who refuses to use lethal force. This tension continued even as Damian eventually took on the mantle of Robin alongside Dick Grayson.

Despite his arrogance and a history of violence, Damian's journey involves significant growth. He has transitioned from a child who viewed his father's allies as threats to a hero who recognizes the nuance in Batman's character. Even after being disowned by his mother for defying the House of al Ghul, he remains a central figure in the Bat-family legacy.
