The Chilean wrestler who unmasked herself to find her true identity
In short: In the high-stakes world of lucha libre, losing your mask is a profound defeat. Yet, Catalina Aurora García Corrial chose to discard hers voluntarily. From a teenage prodigy in Chile to a global WWE star, her journey is a masterclass in shedding past personas to embrace authenticity.
Born in 2000, Catalina Aurora García Corrial began her wrestling career at just 14 years old under the name Jessy. Her talent was recognized early; in 2017, she was offered a developmental contract by William Regal, eventually signing with the WWE once she turned 18. Her early tenure in the WWE was marked by a series of shifting identities, including appearances as Carolina and Katrina Cortez, before a work visa expiration forced her departure in 2021.
The physical and mental toll of her early career was significant. García faced the pressures of representing Chile, alongside health challenges including undiagnosed polycystic cysts that caused weight fluctuations. During her time in Mexico, she found renewed confidence, bolstered by the support of fans who threw Dr. Simi plushies into the ring. In a rare move for a luchador, she chose to unmask before her 2023 debut with CMLL, stating she wanted to move past her WWE persona and present her authentic Chilean self.
Her career has been defined by significant transitions and championship milestones. After winning the Campeona Universal de Amazonas in CMLL, she returned to the WWE fold in April 2026, joining the AAA roster. Her impact was immediate: during Triplemanía 34, she defeated Flammer to capture the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship, ending Flammer's historic 1,128-day reign. Beyond the ring, García has used her success to support the Chilean independent wrestling scene through equipment donations and sponsoring tournaments.
